2 - SCHOOL
This fashion trend may not excite you as our school days are firmly behind us. I don’t know about you, but I have no desire to revisit my school days. Eeeeeek
However with this fashion trend, there will be classic pieces that you can get for your capsule wardrobe or you may already have these pieces already.
These classics are blazers, white shirts, tailored pants, ballet flats, lavallières and ties. Woohoo I love this trend already! Which pieces do you already have and will you wear this year?

3 - DENIM
Denim, denim and more denim. This is what you will see. This trend is for looser jeans, so leave your skinnies firmly in your closet. Opt for straight, bootcut or wide legs instead. They are far more flattering and wearable. Choose them in dark wash and wear them with everything.

4 - LINEN
Linen for Spring Summer, of course it makes sense. Linen is ideal for hot weather, it’s airy, cooling, and ultra comfortable.
For women over 50, they are perfect. You will be spoiled as you will find shirts, skirts, pants, dresses and blazers in linen. Fill up your closet!

5 - STRIPES
Were stripes ever away? Well, not in French women's wardrobes anyway ;0) . In this trend, we are talking about any stripes, whether horizontal, vertical and diagonal, and in various sizes too. I will say not to choose wide stripes as they cut the body into chunks, never a very good look.

6 - MAXI SKIRTS
Skirt choices for quite a while have been short or midi. Now, skirts will become longer, i.e. maxi. This length may divide women but even though they may not be the most practical length during daytime, you. may find that they are très elegant in the evenings. Will you try them? I certainly will!

7 - COLOURS:
What will be the colours this S/S season?
In 2023, the Pantone colour of the year is Viva Magenta, coming from the red family. This is a vibrant colour, so no wall flower if you want to wear viva magenta. Seen in Floral + Heart trends.
Purple will supplant pink.
Black: We don’t usually see so much black in Spring. Worn in Linen, Pant Suit + Sheer trends.
Blue: French women rejoice! We love our blue! All shades of blue inc. pale blue and turquoise. Seen in most trends!
Lime green:  Seen in Sequins & Shine trend. 
Beige: Seen in the Sheer & the Crochet trends.
White: Seen in Crochet, Sequins & Shine & Floral trends.
Tangerine Orange: seen in the Sheer & Sequins trend.

The don’ts:

• Whatever your outfit, dress or top/skirt/trousers, it must not be tight: you will need to move around and be comfortable all evening.
• Avoid wearing any top or dress with dangly sleeves so that they keep away from food, drinks and the gravy.
• No super high heels as you will be walking around all evening serving and being the perfect hostess. The last thing you want is a broken ankle or tripping in front of your guests!
• No short skirt: You will be bending down to the oven to take the turkey out and don't want to show more than what's on the menu.
• Avoid wearing an outfit that might attract food or drinks stains. Wearing white is tempting fate.
• Resist the lure of wearing flashing novelty earrings: Let the Christmas tree be the centrepiece.

The do’s:

• Do wear a dress - so easy to pull on in a hurry and no top that might ride up while you are busy.
• As you need to pare down the accessories and be careful of stains, you could opt for a black or printed dress. This Winter, the big trend is sparkles so why not try a sequin dress? They look amazing on everyone.
• Wear your best jewelry but keep it to the minimum: a long necklace could drag in the gravy and too many bangles will be in the way.
• Wear flat or low heeled shoes for comfort and safety. Choose pointed toe shoes if going for flats.
• Tie your hair up in a neat updo so that it is out of the way of the food you will cook and serve.
• Be prepared - have a spare outfit to change into if, heaven forbid, there is a disaster in the kitchen.
• Keep your makeup on the light side - heat from the oven or stove is not a heavy makeup's best friend.
• One last accessory you have to keep on at all times: your beautiful smile.

In THE GOLD DUST Board, we have:
A tweed jacket that loves to sparkle and shine. You could wear this over classic, more sedate pieces if you wished to. Sometimes less is more is de rigueur in some places, even during the festive season.
A gold belt could be the accessory that you turn to again and again for your parties on a black dress or even on casual days with your favourite pair of jeans.
Those rose gold sunglasses will always be in, no matter what, where and when. 
Those flowy satin trousers will feel special either worn with this tweed jacket or a black one. Wear with the sparkly heels and you're good to go.
The gold clutch is something that dreams are made of, if you wish to add it to your Christmas list or just to spoil yourself, go ahead. A keeper!

A sequin blazer that you could wear with black pants or with jeans for your parties. This blazer is a classic piece that you will be able to keep in your closet for the next decade or more. Every time sequins are needed, this jacket will come into its own.

OUTFIT 1 is made of neutral pieces that give off a sophisticated vibe.
A cream knee length coat is worn over a cream turtleneck sweater and brown check trousers. This is a look that would suit Petites as well. 
 
OUTFIT 2 is a chic check blazer and matching trousers in the mid-browns, with a brown suede belt and worn with a classic crisp white shirt. This outfit is finished with a brown trench coat, in vegan leather. You could easily add layers, with a chunky sweater over the shirt and a thick cashmere scarf tied around your neck, on cooler days.

OUTFIT 3 gives off a classic French vibe with its warm navy peacoat. It is styled simply with a navy blue sweater, black belt and dark wash denim jeans. This is a 'passe-partout' wear anywhere outfit. Finish off with a warm scarf, as above.
