12/5/2017 0 Comments Sunday Lunch in France
On Sunday, Papa et Maman came over to our cottage for lunch to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary and Papa's birthday.
We started with an apéritif ('prendre l'apéritif' in French), with marinated olives and
canapés.
This was followed by oysters, then slow-roasted beef, roasted potatoes, bâtonnets de carottes (carrot sticks that are thicker than 'juliennes') and haricots verts. The oysters were accompanied by a Riesling and the main course by a Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Dessert was this tarte aux pommes which baked while we were eating. We finished with a cup of black coffee and dark chocolates. We enjoyed ourselves, our company and the meal. So many people have asked me over the years how the French can eat so many delicious but rich dishes, sauces, pâtisseries AND drink wine AND stay slim. When I tell them what we do, they are usually surprised. Would YOU like to know what we do to remain slim while still eating the foods we love? Please reply YES!! in the comments below if you want to know our 'secrets' before Christmas ??? A Bientôt Marie-Anne x Please share this post on your social media :0)
