Again this year, you will see trends that you won’t want to wear. And there will be those that you will. But the problem is sorting through dozens of trends, from each designer or brand out there. What to choose? What to avoid? I scoured the catwalks and found what is wearable from 7 main trends, and what you can take away from each one. If you want to look trendy without sacrificing your style, please continue reading. 1 - PANT SUITS Pant suits will be everywhere again this S/S season, and delighted we are. They make women of any age and size look sharp and chic. They come in every colour and fabric. Linen pant suits will be a must this year. Do you have yours at the ready? SHOP THE LOOK 2 - SCHOOL This fashion trend may not excite you as our school days are firmly behind us. I don’t know about you, but I have no desire to revisit my school days. Eeeeeek However with this fashion trend, there will be classic pieces that you can get for your capsule wardrobe or you may already have these pieces already. These classics are blazers, white shirts, tailored pants, ballet flats, lavallières and ties. Woohoo I love this trend already! Which pieces do you already have and will you wear this year? SHOP THE LOOK 3 - DENIM Denim, denim and more denim. This is what you will see. This trend is for looser jeans, so leave your skinnies firmly in your closet. Opt for straight, bootcut or wide legs instead. They are far more flattering and wearable. Choose them in dark wash and wear them with everything. SHOP THE LOOK 4 - LINEN Linen for Spring Summer, of course it makes sense. Linen is ideal for hot weather, it’s airy, cooling, and ultra comfortable. For women over 50, they are perfect. You will be spoiled as you will find shirts, skirts, pants, dresses and blazers in linen. Fill up your closet! SHOP THE LOOK 5 - STRIPES Were stripes ever away? Well, not in French women's wardrobes anyway ;0) . In this trend, we are talking about any stripes, whether horizontal, vertical and diagonal, and in various sizes too. I will say not to choose wide stripes as they cut the body into chunks, never a very good look. SHOP THE LOOK 6 - MAXI SKIRTS Skirt choices for quite a while have been short or midi. Now, skirts will become longer, i.e. maxi. This length may divide women but even though they may not be the most practical length during daytime, you. may find that they are très elegant in the evenings. Will you try them? I certainly will! SHOP THE LOOK 7 - COLOURS: What will be the colours this S/S season? In 2023, the Pantone colour of the year is Viva Magenta, coming from the red family. This is a vibrant colour, so no wall flower if you want to wear viva magenta. Seen in Floral + Heart trends. Purple will supplant pink. Black: We don’t usually see so much black in Spring. Worn in Linen, Pant Suit + Sheer trends. Blue: French women rejoice! We love our blue! All shades of blue inc. pale blue and turquoise. Seen in most trends! Lime green: Seen in Sequins & Shine trend. Beige: Seen in the Sheer & the Crochet trends. White: Seen in Crochet, Sequins & Shine & Floral trends. Tangerine Orange: seen in the Sheer & Sequins trend. SHOP THE LOOK Et voilà, the 7 most wearable S/S fashion trends. Which one will you try? A bientôt Marie-Anne x PS: Links in this post are affiliate links.

Maybe a black and white pin striped linen suit, dark rinse boot cut jeans. They are both from Banana Republic Factory Store. I guess Banana Republic is kind of my aesthetic. Of course, always eyeing the Breton tops and the Chanel-like two tone ballet flats. The ballet flats for a combination of beauty, comfort, and acceptable pricing.

My new additions to my spring/summer wardrobe are: Talbots navy tweed Chanel style dress with gold buttons and pockets. Talbots navy knit sailor pants, Garnet Hill navy floral maxi skirt, LLBean classic white denim jeans and Skechers Uno red sneakers.

While those are beautiful pantsuits, they are slouchy. In my opinion, slouchy clothing does us larger women no favors.

I'm glad to hear about linen it's a must have for me living in the deep south where it gets hot 35 c and higher and natural fabrics are a must. Linen and cotton and possibly silk should be predominant in the hot summers, which by the way start in March/April and don't end until late October/November (I do remember it being 85 29 c on Christmas day one year (90's in Florida) UGH!

Those slouchy pants suits may look great on models, but they do not do us larger women any favors!

Yippee! I have loads of linen in my wardrobe, and stripy tops too, even a lovely blue candy striped shirt in cotton lawn. All I need is a good linen blazer, and I’m good to go! I am only 5’3” and many jackets are too long and petite ones too nipped in at the waist, so any ideas on where to look for that lovely unstructured but not to long look would be helpful. Thanks Marie Anne!

Thank you for this easy wrapup of what we're looking forward to in springtime clothing Marie-Anne. Shopping my closet usually comes up with several of the trends, since I have been buying clothing for more than 50 years!

The slouchy pantsuits look good on models, but they are not attractive on larger ladies
