Is it just me or is everyone else's streams and social media getting filled with posts and videos about Looking or Dressing Younger made by influencers who have so obviously had help from all sorts of "interventions" whether it be surgery, fillers or anything else.
I have just had to scroll through a whole load of videos of the "look at my Mom she is 90 and looks like my sister" or "look how I style myself to look 10 years younger" type; and it is obvious that each influencer has had the benefit of any one or more of a number of procedures. They may admit so in the comments when asked. But is that enough?
If someone decides to have "work done" that is up to them, and perfectly fine; but, I think it is disingenuous to followers/subscribers to then make content of this type without declaring upfront that their looks are due in whole or in part to the "work" that they have had done.
Surely anyone making a video claiming that their styling or any products make them look younger should have to tell the whole truth in every video. It is not enough to refer in comments buried on the post that they have mentioned such things in a video some time ago.
As an influencer I have to declare any video/content that is sponsored. In a like manner such things as surgical intervention should be stated upfront every time a claim is made where this could be a factor in the result.
How else can you the viewer/subscriber judge the voracity of the claims being made without being given the whole truth? If the styling or products do genuinely have such wonderful effects then we should all be grateful for the advice.
If however the looks are in whole or in part only down to surgical intervention then who is to say the styling or products have had any effect whatsoever. Watch my video above here .
I have had no procedures carried out and apply no filters! You can judge that for yourself in my Insta feed 😆
If I ever did have any work done (highly unlikely) I would tell you. It is because I accept that you need to know the full truth to be able to judge what I say. It is part of the 'contract of honesty and integrity' between us.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
